Bio

Razvan Stoian is a Romanian-born, New York City-based choreographer, performer, and teaching artist whose work moves between the stage, the studio, and the community. A member of Battery Dance Company since 2016, he has performed, created, and taught internationally across Europe, Asia, and the United States. His choreographic and screen work includes Saudade, Icarus, Iron Dove, Bo Mambo, Almost, Lowlands, and The Vivaldi Dance Project.

Before joining Battery Dance, Stoian performed with Tangaj Dance Company and Gigi Căciuleanu Romania Dance Company, appearing at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, the National Theatre of Bucharest, and other European venues. He began his career as a champion ballroom dancer and graduated from the Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film with awards for Best Choreography and Best Interpretation.

Today, he leads Contemporary Movement Lab and creates movement experiences for individuals, artists, and organizations. Having worked with more than 1,000 participants worldwide, his practice brings together contemporary dance, improvisation, composition, and collaborative creation to explore communication, identity, belonging, and the stories carried by the body.
